About TOTP
A TOTP code is an HMAC of the current time step (the Unix time divided by the period) using a shared secret. Both the service and your authenticator compute the same code, which changes every period.
Privacy
Everything runs locally with Web Crypto, and QR images are decoded on this device. The secret stays in this tab's session until you close it or press Clear, and is only kept longer if you save the account.
Defaults
Most services use SHA-1, 6 digits and a 30 second period. Use the otpauth URI or QR code when a setup page provides one.
